Green Communications is a French deeptech company specializing in the resilience, sovereignty, and sustainability of digital infrastructures. The company develops innovative solutions based on edge computing, mesh networks, and distributed systems, enabling autonomous communication in complex environments while minimizing resource consumption. Green Communications’ products are used by armed forces, major civil security stakeholders, operators of critical and sensitive infrastructures, the mobility sector, and healthcare organizations, among others. The company was founded in 2010, building on technology transfers from leading French institutions, including Sorbonne University, Paris-Saclay University, and the CNRS.

Carbon Footprint of Internet of Edges

Green Communications has conducted a study to evaluate the carbon footprint of cloud, edge and Internet of Edges solutions. The results reveal that bringing digital services closer to producers and consumers of data and connecting them directly to each other, can reduce the carbon footprint of digital communications by a factor of 16. Green Communications showcases a solar powered public Internet and edge cloud station at Viva Technology 2018 trade show in partnership with Orange. The stand-alone station offers a public Wi-Fi hotspot with local (edge) digital services such as a Chat, a file sharing service, and a local web without any power supply but the sunlight! Green Communications solution of swarm of drones is awarded at Sofins, Outdoor Robotics National Competition 2017 and receives the seal of excellence by the European Commission.
