Release: GreenSoft 2025.0

The new release 2025.0 marks a major milestone by releasing Comms, a unified, local and distributed Mission Critical Voice and Text Communications (MCX) application. This new version allows users to seamlessly continue voice conversations while navigating through other edge applications (file sharing, visualization, etc.). It also allows the real-time creation of multiple dynamic communication rooms for both chat and voice. This release also further improves the routing performance and includes other enhancements.

Comms: Local and Distributed Mission Critical Communications

The GreenSoft is the key enabler of the Internet of Edges. It is a set of programs from low-level to end-user web apps that allows end-devices to:
– connect with nearby devices directly and wirelessly to create a dynamic and self-configuring network with quality of service (QoS);
– and to access and share a common edge cloud with a set of edge-based services (Push-to-Talk, instant messaging, file sharing, blockchain, etc.).

New versions of GreenSoft are being released regularly.

GreenSoft users can access the release notes and request the upgrade via their customer interface. For any other inquiries, kindly contact us.

IoE for Agriculture Automation

How IoE is shaping Agriculture’s Future ?

With global agriculture facing challenges such as climate change, labor shortages, and food security, the future of farming depends on resilient and truly automated fields. Achieving this requires scalable robot-to-robot collaboration. However, current solutions that rely on centralized systems based on long-range communications and remote servers are restricting farming from achieving this autonomy due to transmission latency, low bandwidth, and connectivity issues.

At Green Communications, we are shaping the future of agriculture by enabling scalable robot-to-robot coordination through local computing (edge) and short-range networking (mesh). This approach provides autonomous and real-time communications and data sharing for robotized systems.

These are the features of the Internet of Edges (IoE): a resilient, robust digital infrastructure designed for industrial automation.

Carbon Footprint of Cloud, Edge, and Internet of Edges

We are thrilled to announce that our research on the carbon footprint of data transport on Internet infrastructures has been published in the prestigious Annals of Telecommunications journal with Springer Nature.

The study, conducted by a team of experts from Green Communications and researchers from Paris-Saclay university, and Sorbonne university, examines three types of digital infrastructure: cloud, edge, and Internet of Edges. Our findings emphasize the benefits of shorter data routes to reduce the carbon footprint of digital communications.

For more information on Edge Networking, check out our book “Edge Networking: Internet of Edges” published by ISTE Group. This book presents three different levels of Edge: MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing), Fog and Far Edge (sometimes called Mist or Skin). It also reviews participatory networks, in which user equipment provides the resources for the Edge network. This book analyzes the characteristics of Edge networks in detail, showing their capacity to replace the imposing Clouds of core networks due to their superior server response time, data security, and energy saving.
